Outlook guide to setup BT Internet mail

1 Start Outlook, click the File tab and click in the category information Account Settings

2 Click in the tab Email on New.

3 Switch on Server Settings and click Next.

4 Select Internet Email Addresses, click Next and enter the following data among user data:

Your name: Your full name.
Email Address: your BT Internet email address.

5 In the box Type Account below Server Information, select imap and fill out the following information:

Incoming e-mail:
Incoming port: 993

Outgoing e-mail:
Outgoing port: 587

6 Under Login Information fill in the following settings:

E-mail: your BT Internet email-adress
Password: your BT Internet email-password

Login with security: ssl

7 Click on Test Account Settings. If all goes well, click next and then finish.

  • I am trying to set up a new email address ( in Outlook on a number of devices. I have followed the instructions in email Account Settings (though they differ from the ones given on this website) but am receiving the response that the incoming server cannot be found. I have had the same response in both POP and IMAP. Please advise
