Set up iPhone Virgin

1 Choose settings

2 Scroll down and choose Mail, Contacts and Calendars

3 Tap Add account and select Other

4 Tap Add Mail Account and enter the following information:

Name: your name
Email: your Virgin email-address
Password: your Virgin email-password
Description: enter "Virgin"

5 Choose imap under incoming mail server and enter the following information:

Hostname: imap4.virgin.net
Username: email
Password: your email-password

6 Scroll down and under outgoing mail server, enter the following information:

Hostname: smtp.virgin.net
Username: email
Password: your email-password

7 Tap save and in select your emailadress in the next screen.

8 Scroll down and under outgoing mail server choose SMTP.

9 Under Main server select smtp.virgin.net and make sure the following information is displayed:

SSL: ssl
Serverport: 465

10 Tap done and go to the previous screen. Choose Advanced and make sure the following information is correct:

SSL: ssl
Serverport: imap4.virgin.net

11 Again, go back to the previous screen. Restart your iPhone to finish the setup!

  • Why if i am a virgin media paying customer do i have to have adds on my virgin media email app? I understand other apps do that on free versions except if you pay for the app you get no adds. Grrrrr i dont like adds popping up on my phone

  • I have set up my iPhone 4 (a hand me down!) and verified the email settings after applying the IMAP protocol. All the historical email data loaded onto the iPhone, including sent and received emails. I can receive emails but I am unable to sendl. I keep receiving the "Cannot send Mail" message stating that the username or password for "melanieprice@virginmedia.com" is incorrect. The problem defies all rational explanation and I have spent all day attempting to find a solution by trial and error. I woulds be grateful for your advice please.
