Android guide to setup AOL mail

1 Open your Email application from the menu, add a new account and choose 'Other'.

If you do not have an account yet, you can start setting up right away. Otherwise, open 'Settings' in the email app and choose 'Add account'.

2 In the next screen enter your account details and click on 'Login':

Email: your AOL email address
Password: your AOL email password

3 Choose imap and enter the following details under 'Server incoming mail':

imap server: imap.aol.com
Security type: ssl
Port: 993

4 Your account is now ready to use.

Congratulations, your account is now set up. Open the email app on your smartphone to use your email.

  • Aol must have changed their settings. Worked fine for outlook on both android & pc up until 7/1/19.

  • Trying to setup aol mail on an android. Keep getting the message, "Unable to connect to server". I have followed the instructions above. "ssl" is not a security setting option. Could really use some guidance. Thank you.

  • When setting up on outlook on my phone it wouldn't finish as it couldn't connect to server. It's only happened over the last week as it's always been OK in the past

  • i have a lg stylo phone and suddenly it asked me for credential for the netscape (i.e. aol) information. The incoming server settings have my email under username, retyped the password. Server is imap.aol.com, Port 993. Seurity type SSL/TLS. Hit NEXT and a pop up message says Couldn't finish Couldn't open connection to server.
