Android guide to setup BT Internet mail

1 Open your Email application from the menu, add a new account and choose 'Other'.

If you do not have an account yet, you can start setting up right away. Otherwise, open 'Settings' in the email app and choose 'Add account'.

2 In the next screen enter your account details and click on 'Login':

Email: your BT Internet email address
Password: your BT Internet email password

3 Choose imap and enter the following details under 'Server incoming mail':

imap server: mail.btinternet.com
Security type: ssl
Port: 993

4 Your account is now ready to use.

Congratulations, your account is now set up. Open the email app on your smartphone to use your email.

  • I set up my btinternet email using the auto set up on my Samsung Galaxy tab A. The problem is that read emails disappear from my inbox i.e. I can only see unread emails in my inbox. What do I need to change to retain read emails in my inbox?

  • completely wrong settings here, servers are mail.btinternet.com for both incoming and outgoing imap incoming is 995 pop3 incoming is 995 both outgoing servers are 465 ensure ssl is selected for both servers Work in email support so know these work

  • My email used to work and I haven't changed anything. I have followed the POP3 instructions for my Samsung Galaxy Young and it is still coming up with error unable to connect to server to verify account information. Any ideas?

  • Followed steps above for POP3 set up on Galaxy S4 but received message Unable to set up account authentication failed. Same result with IMAP!!!!!
