iPhone guide to setup Virgin.net mail

1 Open 'Settings', click on 'Passwords & accounts' and 'Add account'.

Click on your provider name if it's listed, otherwise click on 'Other'

2 Make sure 'Email' is checked and click 'Save'.

Your email account is now saved. In the next steps we check if all settings are correct.

3 Click on your newly created email address and choose 'Advanced'. Make sure that the following data is correct under 'Incoming server':

Use SSL: on
Identity check: password
Server port: 993

4 Go back to the previous screen and under 'Outgoing server' click on smtp.virgin.net. Make sure the following information is correct:

Use SSL: on
Identity check: password
Server port: 465

  • My incoming email works fine on my iPad but I am unable to enter the correct settings for my outgoing ntlworld.com email. Should I still be using ‘smtp.ntlworld.com’ as the outgoing server or something else? Possibly, I am using the wrong password. Would you send the current one to me or send me a changed version please? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why if i am a virgin media paying customer do i have to have adds on my virgin media email app? I understand other apps do that on free versions except if you pay for the app you get no adds. Grrrrr i dont like adds popping up on my phone

  • I have set up my iPhone 4 (a hand me down!) and verified the email settings after applying the IMAP protocol. All the historical email data loaded onto the iPhone, including sent and received emails. I can receive emails but I am unable to sendl. I keep receiving the "Cannot send Mail" message stating that the username or password for "melanieprice@virginmedia.com" is incorrect. The problem defies all rational explanation and I have spent all day attempting to find a solution by trial and error. I woulds be grateful for your advice please.
